Move everything but the kitchen sink……..and a few other items.

“The DO NOT ship list”

When moving there are items you are not allowed to ship. This is not done to make the move more difficult or stressful. Often times movers have rules and regulations they are required to follow as well. Looking the other way can put everyone at risk. For example, federal law prohibits moving companies from shipping hazardous materials. A general rule of thumb is if its flammable, do not ship it.

Here are some examples of regular household items that are considered hazardous:

  • Nail polish remover
  • paints, paint thinner
  • lighter fluid, gasoline
  • fireworks
  • oxygen bottles
  • propane cylinders
  • ammunition
  • anti-freeze
  • Perishable foods
  • Live plants
  • open containers of any kind

This is just an example of some of the items movers are not allowed to ship. If you have any questions on more specific items do not hesitate to ask your friendly neighbor hood mover. They are there to help.
